Comment by Paul Plant on January 14, 2013 at 15:26 Hi Jill, I was speaking to one of the other contributors of subTropical Gardening magazine and was told that all gingers (Zingiber species) are edible, but not all are palatable. Some taste better than others, while some are not nice at all. There are no identified texts that they are poisonous.
I cannot comment on the other genera - Costus, Hedychium, etc.
